Size Choosing
Bedroom
If a pendant is to be hung from a nightstand, allow at least 29" between the bottom of the shade and the surface of the nightstand. For a balanced appearance, the pendant should be centered on the nightstand.
Bathroom
To hang a pendant next to a mirror, allow at least 75" between the bottom of the shade and the countertop.
Living Room
The overall hanging height of the chandelier is approximately the ceiling height minus 7-8ft.
Kitchen
The distance from the bottom of the fixture shade to the top of the island or countertop should be 30-36". Distance between multiple pendants should be 26-30". To maintain proportion and a sense of balance, the overall length of the fixture should be approximately 70%-80% of the countertop length
Dining-Rectangular
For optimal lighting and visibility, the bottom of the chandelier should be 30”from the surface of the dining table. To determine the size of the fixture, the length of the chandelier should be about 70% of the length of the table, using the table size as a reference.
Dining-Round
For optimal lighting and visibility, the bottom of the chandelier should be 30" from the surface of the dining table. To determine the size of the fixture, the diameter of the chandelier should be about 50%-60% of the diameter of the table, using the table size as a reference.
